” And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.”
Exodus 34:28 King James Version (KJV)
Greeting,
This Lenten Season, I am calling for a corporate season of prayer and fasting at the CMBC. Will you join me???
Beginning Wednesday, February 14- April 1 (Easter Sunday), we will be doing a modified Daniel fast. See attachment for the details. I am declaring that this will be a season of sacrifice and cleansing at the CMBC.
See CMBC Prayer_Fasting PDF for details. For more information go to https://draxe.com/daniel-fast/.
For 40 days (not including Sundays) we are going to practice the spiritual disciplines of daily Bible reading, prayer , fasting, exercising and worship in giving. The Goal is to get our mind, body and spirits in shape to experience a new resurrection in our lives!
Note: Sundays are a day of rest. We will not be fasting on these days.
I am also asking you to join me in a season of Sacrifice by sacrificing $1 per day during the 40 days. At the end of the 40 days you will sow that $40 sacrificial Lenten season offering on Resurrection Sunday to the CMBC or your local church.
Challenge your excuses.
In years past, it’s been my experience that some don’t fast due to health reasons. I am a diabetic and before I fast, I always consult my Dr. and they never say don’t fast, they encourage me to modify my diet.
Fasting should never bring harm to the body. And if you have concerns, be sure to consult your health professional before going on the Daniel Fast or making any major dietary changes.
The Daniel Fast is a very healthy way to eat! So health professionals will support this eating plan, but might suggest a few modifications if you have health issue that needs special attention.
I encourage you to check with your doctor . . . and by the way, being addicted to cigarettes, coffee, snickers, Pepsi and Coke don’t count as a special need!
Lets go people.
Please join me in this fast.
Love,
Dr. Phelps
